Most jewellery on screen is there to be noticed. The Chopard Green Carpet Collection set in No Time To Die is noticed because it is worn so lightly. Ana de Armas, as the CIA agent Paloma, carries a diamond necklace, a matching bracelet and a pair of diamond earrings with a navy gown, and the stones do the talking. The Chopard Green Carpet Collection behind them is a High Jewellery line built on a principle as much as a look: beautiful things should be traceable.
In the film
Paloma wears the three pieces together with her navy gown in No Time To Die. Chopard was an official partner of the film, and says Ana de Armas wears three Haute Joaillerie models from its Green Carpet Collection. These are the pieces in the film, not lookalikes.
The details of the Chopard Green Carpet Collection
The necklace. It is set with 43 carats of pear-shaped diamonds. The pear shape gives a line that falls rather than sits, which is why we think it suits a bare neckline.
The bracelet. This is the most imposing of the three: 82 carats of pear-shaped and round-brilliant diamonds. Mixing the two cuts keeps a piece of this scale from reading as a solid band of white.
The earrings. They carry 14 carats of diamonds and are the quiet member of the set. They frame the face without competing with the necklace.
The collection behind them. Chopard introduced the Green Carpet Collection in 2015, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Palme d’Or, and it sits within the maison’s Journey to Sustainable Luxury programme. Chopard announced that from July 2018 all its luxury jewellery and watches would use 100% responsibly sourced gold. The collection has also been the setting for traceable gemstones, among them emeralds and a Paraiba tourmaline. That is a more interesting reason to own a diamond than size alone.
Wearing it now
We should be plain: this is High Jewellery, made as a capsule and not sold off a shelf. We could not find a retail listing for these exact pieces, so this page is about the look and how to approach it now. Chopard’s boutiques are the place to ask about the originals. For something within reach, the button below runs an eBay search for Chopard diamond earrings, the nearest piece most buyers can realistically find.
As a gift. The right way to give diamonds on this scale is one piece at a time. Of the three, we would start with the earrings. They are the easiest to wear, they suit evening dress and daytime clothes alike, and they leave the larger pieces for a later occasion.
How to wear them. Paloma’s navy gown is the lesson: a deep, plain colour and a restrained neckline let the stones carry the look. Keep the rest quiet. One substantial piece is usually enough, and the full set is for an occasion that merits it.
In the same spirit
These are alternatives to the look, never the jewels themselves. David Deyong’s DiamonDust drop earrings carry the same long, falling line at a far gentler scale, and Paloma’s gown is closely echoed by the Michael Lo Sordo navy slip gown. Chopard also announced a Happy Hearts – Golden Hearts collection of bracelets, earrings, pendants and sautoirs in ethical gold as part of its partnership with the film. It is in the spirit of the Green Carpet pieces, not the same thing, and we have not seen the full range.
