Few objects in Spectre are as quietly menacing as a small black emblem on a gold band. Factory Entertainment’s Blofeld’s ring replica is moulded from the original Bond Archive prop, cast in .925 sterling silver and plated in 18k gold, with the SPECTRE emblem inlaid in black enamel. In the film the gold ring belongs to Christoph Waltz’s Franz Oberhauser, while members of the organisation wear an updated version. Daniel Craig’s Bond takes one from Marco Sciarra, and it becomes significant to the story that follows.
Owning the Blofeld’s ring replica
The maker intends it primarily for display, and we would treat it the same way: a shelf, a desk, a glass-topped cabinet. It arrives in a velvet-lined ring box with a certificate of authenticity, which suits that purpose well. Our place for it is among other considered collectibles, not on a finger at dinner.
If you do wear it, check the size first. It copies the original prop at US men’s size 12 (UK Y½, 21.6mm inner diameter). The maker warns that it cannot be resized without damaging the plating, though a jeweller can fit an insert for a smaller finger. As with any plated piece, regular wear will show over time.
