The world of James Bond, considered for a life well lived

Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro (No Time To Die)

The Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro is the adventure motorcycle Triumph says appears in the stunt sequences of No Time To Die. It pairs an 888cc triple with a 21-inch front wheel and long-travel Showa suspension, and it is built to cover distance off the tarmac as well as on it.

Most Bond machines are built to be admired. This one is built to be ridden a very long way. Triumph was the only motorcycle partner on No Time To Die, and the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro is its off-road-minded adventure bike: tall, long-legged and fully equipped. It is, in our view, the sensible choice among the film’s motorcycles, and the one a man could actually live with.

In the film

Triumph says the Tiger 900 Rally Pro appears in the stunt sequences of No Time To Die (2021), alongside the Scrambler 1200. Our catalogue places it in the film with Daniel Craig’s Bond, though it does not name the scenes. Triumph also released a limited Bond edition of the Tiger 900, inspired by the Rally Pro rather than identical to it.

The details of the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro

An 888cc triple. The liquid-cooled three-cylinder makes 108PS at 9,500rpm and 90Nm of torque at 6,850rpm. For 2024 Triumph reworked it with new pistons, cylinder heads and camshafts, lifting power from 95PS. The 1-3-2 firing order, introduced with the 900 line, gives it a more torque-led character at low revs than the Tiger 800 that preceded it.

Wheels made for rough ground. The front wheel is a 21-inch spoked tubeless, the rear a 17-inch. The 21 is the point of the Rally Pro: a larger front wheel rolls over ruts and loose stone more readily, which is why it suits a rider planning serious off-road use.

Long-travel suspension. Showa units give 240mm of travel at the front and 230mm at the rear, with manual adjustment at both ends. The Rally Pro does not have the electronically adjustable suspension of the GT Pro. Some will see that as a compromise; others will welcome one less system to go wrong.

Serious brakes. Twin 320mm front discs are gripped by Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers, with cornering ABS. Stylemas are an unusual find on an adventure bike, and they suit a machine this tall.

Equipment already fitted. A centre stand, skid plate, crash bars, cruise control, a quickshifter, heated grips and heated seat, tyre pressure monitoring and six riding modes all come as standard. A 7-inch colour display handles the rest. Little is left to buy afterwards, which is rather the point.

Owning it now

This is the Bond motorcycle for a man who intends to leave the tarmac. It is a long-distance machine first: a 20-litre tank, cruise control and a heated seat suit a week away more than a Sunday blast. We would not choose it for a short city commute.

Rally Pro or GT Pro? The two share an engine. The GT Pro adds electronic suspension; the Rally Pro adds the 21-inch front wheel. If most of your riding is on road, take the GT Pro. If a gravel track or a closed lane is part of the plan, the Rally Pro is the right one.

Fit. The seat height is adjustable between 860mm and 880mm. That is tall. Sit on one before you commit, and if possible ride it loaded with luggage, as the suspension will need setting differently once it is packed.

Dress for it. A waxed or technical jacket in olive or navy, sturdy boots and leather gloves are in keeping with the machine. Ride in clothes that work first and look right second.
