Luggage is the part of a travelling wardrobe nobody photographs and everybody notices. Die Another Day is full of Samsonite, and the Samsonite Streamline suitcase is one of the lines that appears in it. It is no longer made, which turns the question from what to buy into what to look for.
In the film
Our records show cases from Samsonite’s Streamline, Xylem and Spark ranges turning up in Die Another Day (2002). We can place the range in the film but not a particular case in a particular scene, so we do not claim it as a case Pierce Brosnan’s Bond carries, and nothing here depends on that.
The details
A case worth finding. Samsonite is the brand the film returns to for luggage, and the Streamline is one of its named lines. Our research gives no materials for it, so we will not describe the shell; judge that from the photographs of the case in front of you.
What age does to them. A second-hand case rarely fails in the shell. It fails in the small parts: wheels, handles, corner guards and locks. Those are the places to look before you pay.
Sizing. Our catalogue files this as a suitcase or trolley case, but the research gives no dimensions for the Streamline, so we have none to quote. Ask the seller for the interior measurements and the empty weight, and check both against your airline’s allowance.
Owning it now
Because Samsonite no longer makes the Streamline, the buy button here is a search of eBay for it. That means second-hand stock, in whatever condition people have kept it. We would treat it as a project in the best sense: a sound shell, cleaned and fitted with fresh wheels, is worth more than a new case of the same age in any department store.
What to check. Ask for photographs of the interior and the base, and of every latch closed and open. Test the telescopic handle if there is one. Smell the lining; a musty case is hard to cure.
How to travel with it. A rigid case, if that is what you find, reads as deliberate beside soft-sided bags. Keep the rest of the kit plain and the case does the talking.
If you want one new. Samsonite still makes cases, and its current carry-on range is on its own site. They are in the spirit of the original, not the same object.

Questions
Is the Samsonite Streamline in Die Another Day?
Yes, as a range. Our records place Streamline cases in the film alongside the Xylem and Spark lines, though we cannot tie this one to a specific scene.
Can you still buy a Samsonite Streamline new?
No. It is out of production, so the realistic route is a second-hand case found through a search such as the one on this page.
What should I check on a second-hand hard-shell case?
Wheels, handles, locks and corner protection first, then the lining. The shell itself usually outlasts everything attached to it.
More travel pieces sit in the bags and luggage collection, and the full list is on the films page.
