Aviators are the one style of sunglasses that never looks like fancy dress, and the Tom Ford Marko sunglasses are a well-judged pair: a shiny rhodium metal frame with blue lenses and black plastic temples, in a pilot shape that is cleanly cut and finished without ornament. Daniel Craig’s Bond wears them in the Shanghai scenes of Skyfall, and in our view they are the easiest of his sunglasses to wear today.

In the film

Bond wears the Marko in Skyfall (2012). They are on in the Shanghai scenes, where he waits for Patrice at the airport, and briefly again in the Death City sequence. Craig was also photographed in a pair on set between takes. The Marko is the model consistently identified for Bond’s sunglasses, and it is the one we describe here.

The details of the Tom Ford Marko sunglasses

A shiny rhodium frame. The full-rim metal front has a cool, silvery finish that sits neutrally against most jacket colours. It is bright, but it does not shout.

Blue lenses. The blue tint is what makes the film pair recognisable at a glance. In our view it reads as a considered choice rather than a novelty.

Black plastic temples. The dark arms sit against the silver front like the trim on a good suit.

A double bridge. The twin bars across the nose give the front of the frame a more architectural line than a single-bridge aviator.

Sizing. The 18V is listed at 58-13-140: lens width, bridge and temple length in millimetres. If you own a pair of aviators that suit you, check those numbers against them before you order.

Other colours. The Marko is also sold in light ruthenium black (14X), shiny anthracite (08B) and shiny rose gold (28P), among others. They are not the pair identified for the film.

Wearing it now

Aviators work hardest in plain company. We would wear these with a white or pale blue shirt open at the collar, a navy or grey jacket and nothing else competing for attention. They are equally comfortable with a crew-neck knit and chinos on a weekend, or on the road in a convertible or on a boat deck.

Which version? The 18V, with its shiny rhodium frame and blue lenses, is the colourway most often cited for the film pair, and it is the one we would choose. Some Marko colours are sold with polarised lenses, so check the listing for the exact colour you want. If you wear a prescription, ask the retailer whether they can fit your lenses before you buy.

Buying one. Buy from an authorised eyewear stockist and expect the case and cloth to come with them. Listings priced far below retail deserve suspicion.

Questions

Are these the sunglasses Bond wears in Skyfall?

The Marko FT0144 is the model identified for Bond in Skyfall, seen in the Shanghai scenes and briefly in Death City. One source describes it as a similar pair, so we name the model rather than claim a particular frame.

Which colour did Bond wear?

The shiny rhodium frame with blue lenses, colour code 18V, is the one most often cited for the film. Other colours exist, including rose gold, but they are not the version we would pick.

What size are the Tom Ford Marko sunglasses?

The 18V is listed at 58-13-140: 58mm lens width, 13mm bridge and 140mm temples. Compare those numbers with a pair of aviators you already wear.

How much do they cost?

The RRP at the time of writing, October 2026, is US$390 for the 18V. Some stockists sell below that, so compare authorised sellers.
