Good luggage is the kind you barely notice until a porter lifts it from the trunk of an Aston Martin. In No Time To Die, Daniel Craig’s Bond arrives in Matera in the DB5, and porters take the luggage from its trunk at the hotel. Among the cases is a carbon fibre trolley. The Globe-Trotter carbon fibre carry-on is the maker’s own 007 Limited Edition, a very similar case and, in our view, the most modern the house has made.

In the film

Porters take luggage from the DB5’s trunk at the Matera hotel, and a carbon fibre Globe-Trotter trolley is among the cases. The limited edition is described as very similar to the case on screen rather than identical, and we describe it the same way.

The details of the Globe-Trotter carbon fibre carry-on

Carbon fibre, not fibreboard. Globe-Trotter’s standard cases are made from vulcanised fibreboard, a laminate of recycled paper, cotton and wood pulp. This one departs from that, which is what sets it apart from the maker’s other 007 cases.

Four wheels. Globe-Trotter calls the four-wheel design, combined with the carbon fibre body, a first for the house. It rolls upright beside you, which is how most people want a carry-on to behave in a terminal.

Graphite. The finish is a dark, quiet grey that sits easily with leather and steel. Nothing about it announces itself.

A limited edition. It was released in March 2020 as a 007 Limited Edition, so it is not a case you will see on every platform. Initialling is available at extra cost, which we would take up: a case like this should be yours.

Made in England. Globe-Trotter has built luggage in England since 1897, and it is the maker Bond is seen with on screen in Skyfall, Spectre and No Time To Die.

Using it now

This is a case for the man who travels often and carries little. It is a carry-on, so it suits a long weekend or a week with a capsule wardrobe: a suit in a garment sleeve, a few shirts, one pair of good shoes. We would pair it with plain, dark luggage elsewhere and nothing louder.

Choosing it. If you prefer the fibreboard look of the Matera cases, Globe-Trotter’s regular range includes the Ocean Green No Time To Die collection and the grey 007 Collection. The carbon fibre case is for the buyer who wants the departure from the house material. Because it is a limited run, check with Globe-Trotter that it is still available before you plan around it. Questions

Is this the exact case Bond carries in No Time To Die?

Not confirmed. The limited edition is described as very similar to the carbon fibre trolley seen in the film, so we treat it as a close match, not an identical one.

Is the Globe-Trotter carbon fibre case a limited edition?

Yes. Globe-Trotter released it in March 2020 as a 007 Limited Edition.

How is it different from other Globe-Trotter cases?

It is carbon fibre rather than the maker’s usual vulcanised fibreboard. Globe-Trotter describes the combination of carbon fibre and a four-wheel design as a first for the house.

Can it be bought now?

Possibly, but we have not confirmed current availability. As a limited run launched in 2020, stock may be low or gone, so check with Globe-Trotter first.
