The BMW Z3 007 Edition is a car that was sold on the strength of a film appearance. When BMW put its new Z3 in GoldenEye, Neiman Marcus offered a limited edition in its 1995 Christmas catalogue, and it sold out in days. The Neiman Marcus BMW Z3 007 Edition is a collector’s interpretation of the film car, and one of 100 built.
In the film
The BMW Z3 is seen twice in GoldenEye, with Pierce Brosnan’s Bond at the wheel. The Neiman Marcus car is not the film car but a limited edition made to mark it: Bonhams describes the Z3 as the first production model revealed to the public through a major film. We have written this page about the edition, and a separate page covers the standard Z3.
The details of the 007 Edition
Numbers. The edition was offered only through the 1995 Neiman Marcus Christmas catalogue. It was first limited to 50 cars, and was expanded to 100 after the first fifty sold within days. Each car carries a numbered plaque.
Colour. Atlanta Blue Metallic (code 306), with a beige or saddle leather interior and a tan soft top. The same blue-grey is associated with the film car.
Equipment. A “Specially Equipped 007” plaque on the dash, 007 floor mats and “007” badging, per Bond Lifestyle, plus polished A-pillar trim and twin-spoke 16-inch wheels, according to a Bring a Trailer listing. A burl wood trim and a console plaque identify it as a James Bond Z3 Roadster.
Mechanicals. A 1.9-litre inline-four rated at 138 horsepower when new. The example sold on Bring a Trailer had a five-speed manual gearbox.
Owning it now
The Z3 007 Edition is a car for a collector who also likes to drive: small, two-seat, and uncomplicated. Its value rests on originality and documentation, so look for the numbered plaque, the Neiman Marcus paperwork and a history file. Our button runs an eBay search for the model, and specialist auction sites list them from time to time.
What they sell for. A car numbered 66 of 100, with about 8,000 miles, sold on Bring a Trailer for US$22,007 in 2020, and one numbered 66 sold at Bonhams in November 2025 for €24,640 including fees. The window sticker shown with the first sale lists a new price of US$36,670. These are single results, not a market guide.
Before you buy. Verify the edition number and the supporting documents with care, as a standard Z3 in the same colour is far easier to find. Ask for the service history and a pre-purchase inspection.
