A funeral in Rome calls for black and very little else. In Spectre, Monica Bellucci’s Lucia Sciarra wears the Christian Louboutin So Kate to it: a black pump on a 120mm stiletto, with Louboutin’s red sole underneath as the one concession to colour. It is, in our view, the most dressed-up way to be entirely in black.
In the film
Lucia Sciarra wears black So Kate pumps in the Rome funeral scene of Spectre (2015), a film led by Daniel Craig’s Bond. The shoes are hers, not Bond’s. The sources we have confirm the model and the colour, but not the material of the pair on screen, so we have written about the black patent pair that Louboutin lists today.
The details of the Christian Louboutin So Kate
A 120mm heel. The So Kate is the taller twin of the Kate, a pump Louboutin first made in 2012 and named after Kate Moss. The extra height lengthens the leg and tilts the posture forward, and it is not a heel for a long walk.
Black patent calf leather. The finish is glossy and unbroken, so the shoe reads as formal at once.
A pointed toe and a low-cut vamp. The toe is sharp and the vamp is cut deep, which shows a little of the foot. The effect is slim and precise rather than decorative, and nothing on the shoe asks for attention beyond the line itself.
The red sole. Visible beneath the stiletto, it is the mark of the house, in the shade Louboutin calls Loubi red. It is seen only in motion or when a shoe is taken off, which is the right amount of display.
Wearing it now
This is a shoe for occasions that matter: a funeral, a wedding, black tie, an opening night. It does its best work against plain tailoring. Think of a black dress cut to the knee, a narrow trouser that stops just above the heel, or a dark coat over both. Keep everything else quiet. The shoe is the statement and needs no help.
Which height? A 120mm heel suits a dinner more than a day. If the evening will be long, Louboutin makes the Kate in black patent at 70mm, 85mm and 100mm, with the same pointed toe and low-cut vamp. We would choose the 100mm Kate for a long evening and the So Kate for a short, deliberate one.
Fit. Louboutin says the style runs small and suggests taking a half size up. If you are buying for someone else, that is the real risk.
Protect the sole. Louboutin’s US page says returns within 30 days of delivery must come back in perfect condition, with the red sole unmarked. Try them on indoors, over carpet, before you commit.
Availability. At the time of writing, in October 2026, the black pair shows as sold out on Louboutin’s US site, which has a stock alert. It is worth registering for: the So Kate carries a Bestseller label there.
