The world of James Bond, considered for a life well lived

Crockett & Jones Molton Chukka Boots, Dark Brown Rough-Out Suede (No Time To Die)

The Molton is a plain-fronted three-eyelet chukka in dark brown rough-out suede, made in England on a Dainite rubber sole. Daniel Craig’s Bond wears it in the Norway scenes of No Time To Die, and it is the right boot for weather that ruins lesser suede.

In the Norway scenes of No Time To Die, Daniel Craig’s Bond wears the Crockett & Jones Molton chukka boots: a plain-fronted, three-eyelet boot in dark brown rough-out suede on a Dainite rubber sole. There is no brogueing and no toe cap, and nothing to explain. We think it is one of the easiest boots to live with, and a better answer to bad weather than most suede.

In the film

Bond wears the dark brown rough-out Molton in the Norway scenes of No Time To Die, with corduroy trousers and a white Henley. Crockett & Jones has an official partnership with EON Productions and had worked with the filmmakers before, on Skyfall and Spectre. The maker credits the Molton to the film on its own product page.

The details of the Crockett & Jones Molton chukka boots

Rough-out suede. This is a tougher relative of ordinary suede. The maker treats the surface with wax, which gives it a rugged character and good water resistance, and describes the leather as age-defying. It is made to be worn hard, which is why it suits a Norwegian winter better than the softer suede of a dress shoe.

A Dainite rubber sole. The studded rubber grips on wet ground and is a sensible partner for a boot built for weather. The boot also has a storm welt, a detail that adds protection against water at the join of upper and sole.

Three eyelets, nothing more. A chukka has a sporting and military heritage that goes back over a century. The Molton keeps to the original idea: a plain front, a low ankle and no decoration. That is why it wears so easily with casual clothes.

Made in Northampton. Crockett & Jones makes the Molton in England, in its own factory in Northampton. It is a British boot in a British film, and the make is worth owning for that alone.

Wearing it now

This is the boot for weekends, for travel and for the country. Dark brown suede sits easily beside navy, olive and charcoal. We would wear the Molton with corduroy or heavy cotton trousers and a thick knit, much as Bond does, and with a wool overcoat once the weather turns. It also looks right with dark denim.

What it is not is an office boot. The soft, matte surface reads as weekend, travel and countryside, and we would keep it away from a business suit.

Which colour? Crockett & Jones also makes the Molton in black rough-out suede. We would choose the dark brown. It is the pair from the film, and it is the easier colour to wear with the rest of a wardrobe.

Care. Rough-out forgives more than ordinary suede, but not everything. Brush it with a suede brush after wearing and treat it with a protector spray before the first outing. Let a wet pair dry slowly at room temperature, away from radiators. Because the boot is welted, a worn sole can be replaced rather than the boot.

Questions

Are these the boots Bond wears in No Time To Die?

Yes, this is the model. Bond wears the Crockett & Jones Molton in dark brown rough-out suede in the Norway scenes, and the maker credits it to the film.

How much do the Crockett & Jones Molton boots cost?

At the time of writing, October 2026, the RRP is US$810 on the Crockett & Jones US site. Prices vary by market, so check the maker’s page for your region.

Can you wear the Molton in wet weather?

Within reason, yes. The maker says the waxed rough-out suede has good water resistance, and the Dainite sole is a sensible choice on wet ground. The boot is not waterproof, though, so treat it with a protector spray and dry it slowly after a soaking.

Does the Molton come in other colours?

Yes. Crockett & Jones also makes the Molton in black rough-out suede. The dark brown is the version Bond wears.
