Film luggage is usually meant to go unnoticed. The Globe-Trotter Stabilist Case was made to conceal a rifle. In Skyfall it is the slim aluminium case in which an assassin carries a dismantled sniper rifle, and to mark fifty years of Bond on screen Globe-Trotter made a replica for collectors. It is a very particular object: a travel case with a story, in an edition of 100.
In the film
Patrice, played by Ola Rapace, uses a Globe-Trotter case to carry his sniper rifle in Skyfall (2012). It is a villain’s luggage, not anything Daniel Craig’s Bond carries. Globe-Trotter says the case it sold was based on the one in the film, which came apart to form a sniper’s rifle. Treat the consumer version as a replica, not the prop.
The details of the Globe-Trotter Stabilist Case
Aluminium, not fibreboard. Globe-Trotter’s classic cases are vulcanised fibreboard with leather corners. The Stabilist is a slim 26-inch case in aluminium, a colder, harder object than the rest of the range.
Diamond-quilted Alcantara. The interior is lined in quilted Alcantara. It is a soft, ordered contrast to the shell, and you only see it once the lid is open.
A handle drawn from a rifle sight. The handle is a facsimile of a rifle’s telescopic sight. Globe-Trotter developed it with the armourer at Pinewood Studios, especially for Skyfall.
Plaque and number. An internal plaque commemorates the case’s appearance in the film, and each of the 100 cases carries its own serial number. For a collector, the number is the provenance.
Owning it now
The case was made in 2012 and we could not confirm that it is on sale new from Globe-Trotter today, so the realistic route is a pre-owned example, and our button runs an eBay search for it. Ask for the serial number and a photograph of the internal plaque before you commit.
It is slim, so it suits what a suit-wearer actually travels with: a jacket folded in tissue, a pair of shoes, a laptop and documents for a night or two away. We would not check it into a hold. It is better as a case that travels in the boot of a car, rides on a train luggage rack, or stands in a study as an object with a story. If you want Globe-Trotter luggage for everyday journeys, the fibreboard cases in our bags and luggage section are the sensible choice.
We have not handled this case; what we say about it comes from Globe-Trotter’s own account. Read more in the Skyfall guide.

Questions
Is this the case Patrice carries in Skyfall?
No. Globe-Trotter says the consumer model was based on the case used in the film, so it is a replica of the screen case rather than the prop itself.
How many Globe-Trotter Stabilist Cases were made?
One hundred. Globe-Trotter describes the edition as limited to 100, and each case has its own serial number.
What is the Stabilist Case made of?
It is a slim 26-inch aluminium case lined in diamond-quilted Alcantara. The handle is styled on a rifle’s telescopic sight.
Can you still buy it?
We could not confirm that it is on sale new. It was a 2012 limited edition, so a pre-owned example is the likelier route. Check the serial number and plaque with the seller.
