The Micro Scalextric James Bond set takes one scene from No Time To Die, the chase through Matera, and reduces it to 1:64. In the film, Daniel Craig’s Bond is in the Aston Martin DB5 with a Jaguar XF behind him. Here the same two cars race on 4.08m of track that can be laid out nine ways, including a loop-the-loop and a half pipe.
Owning the Micro Scalextric James Bond set now
This is a toy, made for ages four and up, and we would buy it to be run rather than kept in the box. Two speed-limiting hand controllers make it less likely that the cars will leave the track, which suits a family evening better than a test of nerve. Anyone after a display piece of the DB5 would be better served by a die-cast model; more in this vein sits in toys and collectibles.
The set runs on six AA batteries. Scalextric also sells a mains-powered track piece for the Micro range, which is worth adding if the layout is going to stay out. Check the floor space on the maker’s page before you commit, and note the safety warning: it is not suitable for children under 36 months.
