The snake is an old symbol of temptation, and in Skyfall Severine wears one on two fingers. The Swarovski Queen Cobra Double Ring was designed by the British jeweller Stephen Webster for a 2012 collection made to mark the film. It joins black crystals for the cobra’s body to a large crystal said to stand for the apple, with red crystal eyes that flash against the black.
In the film
Berenice Marlohe’s Severine wears the ring in the casino scenes in Macau, and in the film’s poster. It is the double version of the design, which means it is worn across two fingers. The wider collection also included a pendant and a single ring, according to the press release, and went on sale in stores from mid-October 2012. For more, see Skyfall.
The details
A cobra in black crystal. The body is set in black crystal and the eyes are bright red, a contrast that reads at a distance. The effect is dramatic rather than delicate.
A large crystal for the apple. Swarovski’s description gives the large crystal a meaning: the apple, the forbidden fruit.
Designed by Stephen Webster. Webster, a British jeweller, created four themes for the collection: Love Knot, Black Bamboo, Heat Seeker and Queen Cobra.
Owning it now
The collection is long out of production, so any ring you find will be second-hand, and our button runs an eBay search for it. Look for a seller who shows both sides and the setting, and check that you know the ring size before you buy, since a double ring is cut to span two fingers. It is a statement piece for evening, and it needs plain clothes: a black dress or a dark, simple jacket. For the actor in the series, see Daniel Craig’s Bond.
