The world of James Bond, considered for a life well lived

Walther PPK (Casino Royale)

The Walther PPK is a small steel pistol, listed in .380 ACP and .32 ACP, that has been Bond’s sidearm since Dr. No. In Casino Royale it appears only as a prop; Craig’s Bond carries the P99, and the PPK returns from Quantum of Solace.

The Walther PPK is the pistol most people picture when they think of Bond, and the reason it earns a page on the strength of Casino Royale is more complicated than the others. In that film, our evidence shows it only as a prop among personal items, while the working pistol is the Walther P99. This page is about the PPK itself, a small steel pistol with a long history.

In the film

We have not found a scene in Casino Royale in which Craig’s Bond carries or uses a PPK. The catalogue records only a prop displayed with other personal items, and the Royal Armouries places the plastic-framed P99 in Craig’s first outing. The PPK returns in Quantum of Solace as his preferred carry pistol, in Skyfall in a Vega IB333 holster on the London Underground and in a modified form in Shanghai, in Spectre, and in No Time To Die. Its origin is older still: in Dr. No, Connery’s Bond swaps his Beretta for the Walther PPK, as in the novel.

The details of the Walther PPK

Small and steel. Walther’s current PPK has a 3.3in barrel and a steel frame, in black or stainless. It is a single/double-action pistol with a loaded-chamber indicator, and two magazines come with it.

Two calibres. Walther lists it in .380 ACP, holding 6 rounds, and in .32 ACP, holding 7. The PPK/S, a related variant, is listed in .22 LR, .32 ACP and .380 ACP.

A long line. Wikipedia places the PPK in the Walther PP series of blowback-operated pistols, made by Carl Walther GmbH Sportwaffen.

Owning it now

A PPK is a regulated firearm. Buying one means a licensed dealer and whatever licence, permit or waiting period your jurisdiction requires; in some countries private ownership is not possible. Walther’s page lists models at a manufacturer’s suggested price of US$969 (at the time of writing, October 2026).

For a collector the question is which Bond you are collecting. The PPK has been Bond’s pistol across decades, so a standard black or stainless PPK is a fair stand-in for several films, but not specifically for Casino Royale. We know of no deactivated or replica option, so cannot point to one. For the Casino Royale pistol, see the Walther P99 instead, and for more equipment browse the weapons collection.
