Bollinger is the champagne Bond drinks, and in The World Is Not Enough he shares a bottle with Elektra King in her palace room. Bollinger appears across many Bond films, from Roger Moore to Daniel Craig, which makes it as close to a house champagne as the series has.
Owning it now
A source we found names the vintage in this scene as La Grande Annee 1990, a special vintage cuvée from the house. For something you can buy and open without ceremony, the Special Cuvée is Bollinger’s emblematic non-vintage champagne, a blend that the maker says is best served at 10 to 12°C. It can be drunk young or kept in the cellar.
Retailers pair it with fish, shellfish, poultry and hard cheese such as Parmesan. We would serve it simply: cold, in tulip glasses, with nothing in the glass but the wine. At the time of writing, a US retailer listed the Special Cuvée at US$69.99 for a 750ml bottle.
If you prefer a special-occasion bottle from the same house, Bollinger R.D. 2002 is on the site, seen in a different film. See the film page and food and drink for more.
