A shooting range is not where you expect to find Bond’s style, but it tells you something about him. In Skyfall, Daniel Craig’s Bond puts on a pair of green British Army ear defenders at the indoor range, and they are the 3M Peltor H61FA. The 3M Peltor H61FA ear defenders are plain military kit, sold surplus, and they cost very little.
In the film
Bond wears them in Skyfall (2012), in the workout outfit he has on at the indoor shooting range. The pair is the green British Army version, which has yellow writing below the Peltor logo.
Using it now
The H61FA is a folding, over-the-head ear defender. The headband folds in on itself for compact carrying, the headband is stainless steel, and surplus pairs come in NATO olive green. UK Forces versions are marked EN 352 and carry a Ministry of Defence stock number. A surplus listing describes the pair as helmet-compatible.
We would use them for what they are: hearing protection at a range, on a power tool or at a loud event. They suit a go-bag better than a kitchen drawer. Buy a pair marked for the British Army if the film detail matters to you, and check the cushions and headband on a used pair, as they perish.
