One of the plainest objects in Q’s home office is also one of the most useful. In No Time To Die, his Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme sits on a black Amazon Basics laptop stand on his personal desk: a simple piece of vented aluminium. We think the Amazon Basics laptop stand is the right sort of gadget for a man with nothing to prove.
Using the Amazon Basics laptop stand now
A stand does one thing well. It lifts the screen towards eye level, so you stop looking down at your work for hours at a time. Pair it with a separate keyboard and mouse, because raising the laptop puts its own keyboard out of comfortable reach. The vented design also lets the machine breathe.
We would choose the black, as Q did. It disappears against a dark desk and does not compete with anything on it. Amazon’s listing describes it as folding flat, which makes it easy to take to a hotel room or a borrowed table. More considered desk gadgets are collected in Gadgets & Electronics.
Finding one
Amazon Basics stands are sold through Amazon, but we could not confirm that this black DSN-01750-BK is still stocked new, so the button searches eBay for it instead. Check the listing photographs against Q’s stand and the height range before you pay.
