The Polycom SoundStation2 is a table-top conference phone built for meeting rooms. It is a plain, functional object, which is why it looks right on Q’s desk in Skyfall, next to his laptop and mug.
Owning it now
Polycom no longer makes it, so units are found second-hand and our button runs an eBay search for it. Existing units still work on an analogue phone line. Versions include the base unit (2200-15100-001), one with a display (2200-16000-001) and the expandable EX (2200-16200-001), which takes extra microphones. It is designed for rooms of up to ten people. Because the three versions differ, ask the seller which one is being sold and what is in the box. For a home office, a modern USB speakerphone is simpler, and you can see more kit in gadgets and electronics.
