The most useful Bond gadget you can buy for the price of a dinner is a model rocket. The Estes Bull Pup 12D is a scale kit of the USAF AGM-12D Bull Pup missile, and according to the Bond Lifestyle sources in our research, it is what the prop team used for the ground-to-air missiles behind the side air intakes of Pierce Brosnan’s BMW Z8 in The World Is Not Enough. We have not seen the production paperwork, so we describe it as the kit the props were made from, and the sources agree on it.
Building and flying it
This is a project for a weekend. Estes rates the kit skill level 3 (advanced), though the reviewer on RocketReviews rates it level 1 and suggests you should have a couple of rockets behind you. It comes with a single-piece body tube, a moulded plastic tail and nose cone, laser-cut balsa fins and full-colour waterslide decals, and flies on standard Estes motors to about 675 feet, with a 12-inch parachute for the return. We would build it for the shelf as much as for the field.
