The DB5 in Casino Royale arrives by way of a card game: Daniel Craig’s Bond wins it at the One & Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas. The Scalextric Casino Royale DB5 (C3162A) is that car at 1:32, a left-hand-drive slot car limited to 5,000 pieces. It is the second in Scalextric’s run of three special DB5 editions, after the Goldfinger car and before the GoldenEye one.
Owning the Scalextric Casino Royale DB5
We would treat it as a collector’s piece first and a racer second. A limited edition of 5,000 is worth keeping in good order, and the box includes an ID card featuring Bond (Daniel Craig) and the serial number. Out of the box, the car has Magnatraction, easy-change pick-ups, working rear lights and xenon-effect headlights, so it is quite capable of a few laps if you would rather run it.
It looks best beside the other two cars in the series (Goldfinger is C3091A, GoldenEye is C3163A), on a shelf or desk where the three can be read as a set. Some retailers list it as sold out, so availability is worth checking before you commit. More in the same vein sits in our toys and collectibles section, and the car’s place in the story is on the Casino Royale film page.
