007 First Light is the first James Bond game from the studio behind the Hitman series, and it tells an origin story: a young Naval air crewman, recruited to the newly revived Double-0 programme, who has not yet earned the number. It came out on 27 May 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. If you want to play the new 007 First Light game, this page is where to start.

In the games

This is not an adaptation of a film. IO Interactive has written its own story, set before the Bond of the films. After a heroic act, Bond is offered a place in the Double-0 programme. A mission to stop a rogue agent ends in tragedy, and he has to work with his reluctant mentor, Greenway, to expose a conspiracy and prevent a coup at the heart of the State. It is a single-player game; the PlayStation listing gives it a Teen rating from the ESRB.

What kind of game it is

IO describes it as a mix of gunfights, hand-to-hand combat, stealth and exploration, with gadgets and a bluffing approach to guards alongside the firepower. The studio’s Hitman background is the useful clue: the pitch is that you choose how to handle a mission, silently or loudly. Missions can be replayed with extra modifiers, and the game includes driving, in the cars you would expect.

Which edition

There are four. The Standard Edition is the game itself. Pre-orders carried a free Deluxe upgrade (four outfits, a weapon skin and the Gleaming gadget-skin pack), and the Deluxe Edition now lists at US$79.99 on PlayStation. The Specialist Edition adds a Classic Tuxedo skin at the same price as Standard. The physical Collector’s Edition (US$199.99) adds a wearable lifesize gold mask replica, and the Legacy Edition (US$299.99) a Golden Gun figurine; both include a steel case. Unless you want the objects, we would buy Standard and leave it there.

The buy button goes to the PlayStation Store. The game is also sold on the Xbox Store and on Steam, so buy it on the platform you already own. There is no PS4 version. Is it a film tie-in?
