The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light is the first Bond Seamaster with a chronograph, and, unusually, a Bond watch that comes from a video game rather than a film. Omega says the 44mm watch appears in 007 First Light, where players “rely on the watch as they earn their 007 status”, and the brand has put it on sale as a real object.
In the game
Omega says Bond has worn a Seamaster in every film since 1995. This watch comes from a different place: it sits with the young Bond of IO Interactive’s origin story rather than any of the actors’ Bonds, so it carries no screen-worn claim from the films. Omega’s box takes its design from the suitcase that carries the Omega watches within the game.
The details
The case is steel, 44mm across and 17.20mm thick, with a polished black ceramic bezel and a white enamel diving scale. The black ceramic dial has laser-engraved waves, with the subdial ring and central seconds hand finished in PVD bronze gold, and the pushers are polished black ceramic, with the crown embossed with the Omega logo. It runs Omega’s calibre 9900, visible through a sapphire caseback with a black-metallised 007 First Light logo, and is Master Chronometer certified. The bronze gold against black is the part that makes it feel a long way from the blue-dial 007 Edition.
Wearing it now
This is a big watch: 134g with a 17mm case is a presence, and it wants a loose sleeve. We would wear it on the supplied NATO, a striped brown, grey and beige strap with a grade 5 titanium Seamaster buckle and 007 and First Light engravings on the keepers, with a grey sweatshirt, chinos and boots, not with a dinner jacket. If you want a Seamaster that Bond wore on screen, see the Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition from No Time To Die, or browse the rest of our watches.
