Of everything Daniel Craig’s Bond wears in Jamaica, the Croakies Original sunglasses strap is the least noticed and, we think, the most sensible. A band of navy neoprene, it keeps his sunglasses secured around his neck while he sails and fishes. The RRP is US$7.99 at the time of writing, October 2026, and it is the kind of detail that suggests a man who has spent time on the water.

In the film

Bond wears the strap in No Time To Die (2021), during the Jamaica sequences in which he sails and fishes, with his Vuarnet Legend 06 sunglasses. It is the Original model in navy, which Croakies still sells today.

The details of the Croakies Original sunglasses strap

Neoprene. This is the material of wetsuits, and that is where the Original began. In 1977 a ski patroller in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, made the first pair from an old wetsuit. Croakies still builds the Original around the same material, and the brand describes it as tried and true.

Colourfast and washable. Croakies describes the strap as both, which is what you want from something that lives near sea water and sun cream.

Adjustable. The fit can be set to suit the wearer, so you can take it up snug for the water or leave it looser for a walk.

Two end sizes. Croakies makes the Original with S/M and M/L ends. Choose according to the frames you own and check the maker’s page before ordering.

A lifetime warranty. Croakies backs its straps with a lifetime warranty, a reassuring promise on an object this inexpensive.

Wearing it now

This is a strap for the boat, the beach, the long walk and the drive with the window down. It is not for the dining table. When you sit down to dinner, take the sunglasses off and tuck them away, strap and all. The charm of the thing is that it is functional, and it stops being charming the moment it is worn indoors.

We would choose navy over black, as Bond does. It sits better with the clothes you would wear anyway in warm weather: a cotton T-shirt or linen shirt, shorts, canvas shoes, a faded cap. It also works with any sunglasses, not only the Vuarnets in the film. The point is not to copy Bond’s outfit but to take his sense of priorities: a man who expects to be outdoors for hours, and has sorted out the small things in advance.

At the time of writing Croakies lists free shipping on orders over US$25. At this price, buying two, one for the glove box and one for the bag, is not an extravagance. Croakies also makes the Original in other colours and in prints, but navy is the one from the film.
