A kitchen appliance is an unlikely place to look for a character’s taste, which is rather why this one works. In Q’s house in No Time To Die, the refrigerator is a silver Smeg: the 50’s Style FAB30LSV5, a rounded, chrome-trimmed two-door fridge freezer drawn from 1950s design and built with a modern kitchen in mind. The Smeg 50’s Style FAB30LSV5 is, in our view, the quietest way to bring something of the film’s world into your own house.

In the film

Ben Whishaw’s Q has a Smeg fridge in his house in No Time To Die (2021), among other Smeg appliances. Our catalogue records it as this model: silver, two doors, hinged on the left, with the freezer above. It appears as set dressing, and none the worse for it. The film page has the other pieces we have traced.

The details of the Smeg 50’s Style FAB30LSV5

Rounded, chrome-edged. The doors are curved at the corners and finished with chrome profiles. The silver finish is the restrained choice in a range better known for bright colours, and it reads as designed rather than merely specified.

Sensible proportions. It is 60cm wide, 72.8cm deep and 172cm tall, with 294 litres of capacity, 72 of them in the freezer. Sixty centimetres is a conventional width for a freestanding appliance, but check the depth: at 72.8cm it may stand proud of neighbouring units.

A cold zone for the right things. The Life Plus compartment is held at 0°C, intended for fish, cheese and meat that you want to keep longer. Ventilated MultiFlow cooling circulates the cold through the cabinet.

A freezer you can use. The top compartment is four-star and can freeze up to 4kg of fresh food in 24 hours. That makes it useful for more than ice and peas.

Small conveniences. The interior has LED lighting, adjustable crystal shelves and electronic temperature control. An acoustic and visual alarm warns you if a door is left open.

The energy rating. It is Energy Class D, with annual consumption listed at 168kWh. Worth knowing: this is a fridge to buy for the design first.

Owning it now

It suits a kitchen that is allowed some character: painted cabinetry, a wooden worktop, a stone or tiled floor. We would choose silver over the brighter finishes. It is the colour in the film, and it settles into a room instead of announcing itself.

Hinge side. This one is hinged on the left. Stand where you would open it and picture the door swinging. With the doors open past 90° it needs 92.6cm of width, so check it against walls and neighbouring units before you order.

Voltage. The retailer listing we have used is the 220–240V version with a Schuko plug. If you are buying in North America, confirm the model number and electrical specification for your market with the retailer. Smeg’s US site shows its two-door range.

Availability. At the time of writing, October 2026, our chosen retailer lists it as out of stock, with an estimated dispatch date of 14 October 2026.
