Some of the best things in a Bond film are the ones you have to look for. In the Jamaican house that Daniel Craig’s Bond retreats to in No Time To Die, a black camera rests on the desk, unremarked and unexplained. It is a Leica, and the Leica M10 from No Time To Die is, in our view, the right sort of object to keep close: mechanical in feel, digital in result, and entirely uninterested in being noticed.

In the film

The black chrome M10 appears on Bond’s desk in his Jamaican house in No Time To Die (2021). Two Leica cameras appear in the film, the M10 and the Q2, and Leica has said it worked with the production team to place its cameras on the Jamaican set. The M10 is easy to miss, which suits it. See the full No Time To Die guide for the rest of the film.

The details of the Leica M10 in No Time To Die

A slim body. Leica calls the M10 the slimmest digital M it has made, and it weighs 660g. The depth matches that of the original M3, so it carries like a rangefinder rather than a gadget.

Black chrome. The finish is a durable chrome plating, in black here and in silver as the alternative. Black is the quieter choice, and the one in the film.

A full-frame sensor. The 24MP CMOS sensor measures 24 x 36mm and sits directly behind the lens with no mirror in between. The shutter responds almost the instant you press it.

Focusing by rangefinder. You focus manually through the optical viewfinder, which on the M10 has a 0.73x magnification, a field of view 30% larger than before and 50% more eye relief. Leica says the focusing mechanism is machined to a tolerance of 10 micrometres. Live view with focus peaking is there when you want it.

Controls that make sense. There is a physical ISO dial on the top plate, with a range of ISO 100 to 50,000. Aperture, shutter speed and ISO can all be set with the camera switched off, so you are ready before the moment arrives.

Made by hand. Each M10 is assembled by hand in Germany. The rear screen is Corning Gorilla Glass and there is Wi-Fi for transferring pictures to your phone through Leica’s FOTOS app. There is no video mode, which we count in its favour.

Owning it now

The M10 is a camera for a man who already has a phone that takes perfectly good pictures, and wants to take fewer of them, more deliberately. It belongs on a desk, on a table beside the passport on a long journey, or over the shoulder on a walk. It is body only, so the lens is your choice. We would begin with a 35mm or a 50mm and learn it properly before buying a second.

Black or silver? We would choose black, for the film and because it draws less attention in a restaurant or on a street. Leica also sells a silver version.

Battery. The CIPA rating is around 210 shots, so a spare battery is sensible rather than fussy. The base plate comes off to reach the battery and memory card.

Grip. Leica makes a thumb rest and finger loops in three sizes for the M10, small additions that improve how the camera sits in the hand.

New or pre-owned? Check with Leica or an authorised dealer for new stock. Leica’s Classic Store lists a black chrome-plated M10 at €4,890 in October 2026, and a well-documented pre-owned body is a sound way in.

Questions

Which Leica is in No Time To Die?

Two appear: the Leica M10 and the Leica Q2. The black chrome M10 is the one on Bond’s desk in his Jamaican house.

Is there a Leica 007 Edition?

Yes, but it is a Q2. Leica announced a Q2 “007 Edition” limited to 250 pieces to mark the film. We found no 007 edition of the M10.

Does the Leica M10 shoot video?

No. It is a stills-only camera with no video mode, which leaves the body slim and the controls few.

How much is the Leica M10?

Leica’s Classic Store lists a black chrome-plated M10 at €4,890 in October 2026. We have not confirmed a current RRP, so check Leica or an authorised dealer for new stock.
