The world of James Bond, considered for a life well lived

Carhartt Odessa Cotton Canvas Cap (No Time To Die)

A navy washed-canvas baseball cap, most likely the Carhartt Odessa, worn by Daniel Craig’s Bond as he sails from Jamaica to Cuba in No Time To Die. Light-structured, all cotton and without fuss, it is plain workwear that earns its place in any weekend wardrobe.

Not everything Daniel Craig’s Bond wears costs five figures. For the sailing passage from Jamaica to Cuba in No Time To Die, he pulls on a plain navy cotton cap with its brand mark removed, and looks entirely at home in it. It is most likely the Carhartt Odessa cap, a washed-canvas baseball cap made for work and sold for a modest sum. In our view it is among the most useful things in the film’s wardrobe, at any price.

In the film

Bond wears a navy cotton cap in No Time To Die (2021) as he sails his Spirit yacht from Jamaica to Cuba, part of his retired island-life wardrobe. The match to the Odessa (style 100289) is our best identification rather than a confirmed fact: the cap on screen carries no front label, so no logo settles it. We present it on that basis.

The details of the Carhartt Odessa cap

Washed cotton canvas. The exterior is 100% cotton, a midweight washed canvas. It starts softer than raw canvas would, which is what you want from a cap.

A light structure. The crown is light-structured and medium in profile, with a pre-curved visor. It holds its shape without sitting high on the head.

A sensible sweatband. Inside is Carhartt’s Force sweatband, which uses FastDry technology to wick moisture, and retailer information adds an anti-microbial finish. Neither is glamorous. Both matter on a boat in warm weather.

Adjustable fit. The back closes with hook-and-loop, and Carhartt’s sizing chart gives the men’s one-size cap a head circumference of 22in to 23⅜in, roughly 56cm to 59cm.

The label. The retail cap carries a leatherette Carhartt label sewn to the front and an embroidered Carhartt logo at the back. The cap in the film has no front label, so the shop version differs in that one respect.

Wearing it now

This is the cap for weekends, boats, long drives and early walks. Navy is the easiest colour to live with: it sits well beside an oatmeal or grey knit, a white cotton tee, olive chinos, a waxed or field jacket and a pair of canvas shoes or plain suede boots. It also works as a quiet counterweight to a good watch, which looks better against simple cotton than against anything showy.

With the label or without? The label is sewn on rather than printed, so it can be unpicked with care if you want the plain front seen in the film. We would leave it. It is small, it is what Carhartt made, and a clean front is easy enough to find in a cap with no branding at all.

Which colour? Carhartt makes the cap in seven colours. For the look in the film, navy is the only choice. Black and brown are the sensible alternatives, but they belong to another trip.

Care. Carhartt’s instructions are plain: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with mild detergent, no bleach, tumble dry low and remove promptly, no ironing and no dry cleaning.

Questions

Is this the exact cap Bond wears in No Time To Die?

Probably, but it is not confirmed. The navy cap Bond wears is most likely the Carhartt Odessa, style 100289, yet the cap on screen has no front label, so no logo proves it.

Does the Carhartt Odessa cap come without the front label?

No. The cap Carhartt sells has a leatherette label sewn on the front. The label is stitched on, so it can be removed if you want the plain look seen on screen.

Does the Carhartt Odessa cap fit most heads?

It is a one-size cap with an adjustable back. Carhartt gives the men’s size a range of 22in to 23⅜in, around 56cm to 59cm. Measure your head before ordering if you are at either end of that range.

How much does the Carhartt Odessa cap cost?

Carhartt’s RRP is US$19.99 at the time of writing, October 2026. Some retailers discount particular colours.
