The Georg Jensen 88 cufflinks are the quietest piece of jewellery in Pierce Brosnan’s Bond wardrobe: a pair of sterling silver triangles, angular and a little sculptural, designed by Henning Koppel for the Danish silversmith. They are out of production, which makes them a second-hand purchase, and a good one for a man who wants cufflinks that are noticed only by people who care.
In the film
Brosnan’s Bond wears the Georg Jensen 88 cufflinks in the pre-title sequence of The World Is Not Enough (1999), when he visits the bank in Bilbao. Our sources rate this as high-confidence. A rival claim that the pair appears in another Brosnan film appears on one reseller’s listing; we have not followed it, and it does not match our film evidence.
The details of the 88 cufflinks
Sterling silver, stamped. The pair is 925 sterling silver and inscribed “925 S DENMARK”. Check for the stamp when you buy second-hand.
A Koppel design. Henning Koppel was a Danish modernist who designed for Georg Jensen. The 88 is a triangular, arrow-like form with the smooth, rounded surface the house is known for, and one reseller lists it at about 2cm high and 3cm wide.
Dated. One account says the design was first produced in the 1950s or 1960s, and sellers describe it as no longer in production. That is why pairs on the market are pre-owned.
Wearing it now
These suit a double-cuff shirt in white or pale blue and a dark suit, and little else. The shape is bolder than a plain round link, so keep the rest of the outfit plain: a navy or grey suit, a thin knitted or woven tie, and a watch with a quiet dial.
Buying second-hand. At the time of writing, October 2026, pairs have been listed at about US$389 to US$450 from specialist sellers, and some of those listings were already sold or out of stock. Ask for photographs of both faces, the stamp and the swivel or backing, and check that the pair is matched; a single worn link can be replaced, but mismatched finishes cannot.
In the same spirit
A current alternative, not the pair from the film:
- S.T. Dupont Diamond Head square cufflinks: a geometric silver-toned pair for a man who wants shape without ornament.
