Most Bond suits are armour. The Massimo Alba Sloop suit is closer to a cardigan: soft in the shoulder, cut from fine-wale corduroy in pale sand, and made for a long day on the road rather than a meeting. Daniel Craig’s Bond wears it for the chase through the stone streets of Matera. In our view it is the most relaxed suit of the Craig era, and one of the few you could wear to a Saturday lunch without comment.
In the film
Bond wears the Sloop through the Aston Martin DB5 chase in Matera in No Time To Die, with a blue shirt, Albert Thurston braces and Drake’s Crosby chukka boots. The cloth is a sand-toned corduroy that Massimo Alba sells today as Desert, and the maker presents the suit as part of its James Bond story. The rest of the wardrobe is on the film page.
The details of the Massimo Alba Sloop suit
Baby corduroy. The cloth is a cotton needlecord, a very fine wale that Massimo Alba uses across its collections. A fine wale gives a quieter surface than thick cord, so the suit takes the light softly instead of shouting about texture.
A deconstructed cut. The jacket is regular fit with three buttons, classic lapels finished with top-stitching, flap pockets and a double vent at the back. The maker calls it casual and deconstructed. The classic lapels keep it reading as a suit rather than a shirt-jacket.
Dark horn buttons. Against pale cloth, dark horn gives the jacket definition. It is a small contrast, and it does the work a tie would do elsewhere.
Trousers left unhemmed. The trousers are flat-front, slim-fit and straight in the leg, and the hem is deliberately unfinished so a tailor can set it to your height. Budget for that. The length is then yours to choose, and we would take it with a slight break over a chukka boot.
Made in Italy. Massimo Alba says the garments in its Baby Corduroy Edition are crafted in Italy.
Wearing it now
The sensible way to wear a corduroy suit today is as though it were not quite one. Put the jacket over a fine merino knit in navy or cream, add an open-neck shirt and suede chukka boots in tobacco or dark brown, and there is nothing to change between a train, a gallery and a long lunch. A tie is optional. If you wear one, make it knitted silk or wool, which suits the cloth.
It also breaks up well. The jacket works over a white T-shirt and dark denim, and the trousers sit comfortably with a navy knit or a field jacket. We would keep it for the cooler half of the year, and brush and air it rather than clean it often. For more in the same register, see our clothing guide.
Which colour? We would choose Desert. It is the shade from the film, and the only one here cut from baby corduroy. At the time of writing the Sloop is also listed in dark blue, smoky grey and mahogany, but those are listed as cotton corduroy rather than baby corduroy and are priced at US$1,875.
Fit. Massimo Alba says it fits true to size, and its model, at 188cm, wears a 50. Sizes run from 44 to 60, though some are currently shown as unavailable. Have the trousers hemmed before you wear them.

Questions
Is this the suit Bond wears in No Time To Die?
Yes. Bond wears Massimo Alba’s Sloop suit in the Matera chase with the Aston Martin DB5. Massimo Alba itself presents the Sloop as part of its James Bond story.
What colour is the Massimo Alba Sloop suit in the film?
It is a pale sand, sometimes described as almond. Massimo Alba sells that shade as Desert, in its baby corduroy.
How much does the Massimo Alba Sloop suit cost?
RRP at the time of writing, October 2026, is US$1,935 for the Desert baby corduroy Sloop. Other colours in the current range are listed as cotton corduroy and are priced at US$1,875.
Does the suit need tailoring?
The trousers do. They come with an unfinished hem, so a tailor will need to set the length. The maker says the suit fits true to size, so most men can take their usual size.
