The Moneypenny Diaries tell the story from the other side of the outer office. The trilogy, published from 2005, is a set of Bond spin-off novels about Jane Moneypenny, written by Samantha Weinberg under the pseudonym Kate Westbrook, who is presented as the diaries’ editor.

In the books

The conceit is that Moneypenny’s niece inherits her secret diaries and decides to publish them, which puts her at odds with the Official Secrets Act. The books show a secretary who handles M and the unruly Double O agents, The first volume is Guardian Angel (2005); a later volume is Final Fling. These are officially sanctioned spin-offs, not Ian Fleming’s own novels.
