The Nokia 6.2 is a candidate, not a confirmed answer. When the No Time To Die trailer showed Daniel Craig’s Bond holding a Nokia, the guessing began, and the 6.2 landed on the shortlist. We cannot tell you it is the one. We can tell you what it is, and whether it earns a place in your pocket on its own terms.
In the film
HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, was announced as official phone partner for No Time To Die, the 25th Bond film. Coverage of the trailer suggested the handset was a Nokia 7.2, 6.2 or similar in black or charcoal, while other speculation points to the Nokia 8.3 or the Nokia 5.3. None of it is confirmed, and we have not verified which model appears on screen. Images of a 007-branded Kevlar case made for the 6.2 leaked in March 2020, which links the phone to the promotion, not to a scene. See our No Time To Die page for what is verified.
The Nokia 6.2 in detail
Announced on 5 September 2019 and released on 17 October 2019, the 6.2 is a mid-range phone that has since been discontinued. The screen is a 6.3-inch IPS LCD at 1080 x 2280 pixels, roughly 400 ppi, so text is crisp at a size that suits video and reading. Gorilla Glass 3 covers the front and back, set in a plastic frame. At 180g and 8.3mm thick it is tall rather than heavy, and Consumer Reports noted it is taller than most phones.
Inside sits a Snapdragon 636 with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of storage. A microSD slot takes cards up to 512GB. The rear carries a triple camera: a 16MP main lens, an 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP depth sensor. The 3,500mAh battery is non-removable. It ran Android One, shipping on Android 9 and upgradable to Android 10, which means a plain, uncluttered system with few additions.
Using it now
The phone is discontinued, so the button searches eBay for it. We would not buy this phone to look like a film. The film link is unproven, and a phone is only worth carrying if it earns its place. On that measure the 6.2 is a sensible second phone: something for travel, a weekend away or a quiet drawer. The 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C and microSD slot suit that role, and wired headphones need no adapter.
Be realistic about age. It is out of production, so you will be looking at old stock or secondhand examples. Check the condition of the glass, the battery and the software version before you commit. Consumer Reports rated its scratch resistance as excellent and reported that it passed its tumble test, but the phone is not IP rated for water. Keep it away from the pool.
