The BMW Z8 is the Bond car of The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Revell’s 05662 gift set lets you build it on a table at 1:24 scale. It is a project for a quiet weekend, and the finished car sits about 18cm long, small enough for a shelf and large enough to show the shape.
Pierce Brosnan’s Bond drives the Z8 in the film, and Revell sells this kit as the car from it.
Using it now
This is a kit rather than a finished model, so the pleasure is in the building. The set holds 70 parts and has chrome-plated pieces such as the mirrors and door handles, plus a structured interior. Glue, a brush and paints come in the box, so there is nothing else to buy before you start, and a poster is included for the wall. Revell lists it for ages 10 and up, at skill level 3. We would give it a clean table, good light and no hurry.
The finished car suits a desk or a bookcase. See also the Italeri AW101 helicopter kit from Skyfall and the Corgi Aston Martin DB10, which are alternatives for a model shelf, not the Z8.
