Daniel Craig’s Bond keeps a few plain things in his Jamaican villa in No Time To Die, and among them is a small wooden radio most viewers will miss. The Tivoli Audio Model One radio is no Q Branch invention. It is a table radio with one speaker, a wood cabinet and an AM/FM tuner, and we think it is the right sort of object to own: made carefully, doing one thing well.
In the film
The radio sits in the background of Bond’s room in the Jamaican villa in No Time To Die (2021), just left of him as he pours a drink and Nomi asks whether it is his bedroom. It is a glimpse rather than a plot point. The same model also appears in Benoit Blanc’s bathroom in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022). The Model One is the radio credited to the scene; we have not confirmed which finish is on screen, or whether it is the standard or the Bluetooth version.
The details of the Tivoli Audio Model One radio
A wooden cabinet. Tivoli describes the cabinet as handmade and acoustically inert, which is to say it should add little colouring of its own to the sound. It comes in real wood veneer finishes: Walnut / Beige, White / Silver, Cherry / Silver, and two versions of Black Ash.
One driver, ported. A single 3-inch full-range driver delivers 6W in mono from a bass-ported cabinet. It is a radio, not a hi-fi, and is better judged as one.
A tuner with a reputation to keep. It receives AM and FM. The maker says the tuner brings clarity to many of the weakest stations, which matters more in a city flat than a spec sheet admits.
Sensible connections. A 3.5mm auxiliary input takes a phone or laptop. There is also a stereo headphone output and a stereo line-level record output, so the radio can feed an amplifier as easily as it can play on its own.
Using it now
This is a radio for a room you actually use: a kitchen counter, a study shelf, the bedside table. It suits the kind of morning that starts with a news bulletin and a pot of coffee rather than a screen. We would give it a solid surface and keep the FM antenna that comes in the box extended, where it can do its work.
Which finish? We would choose the Walnut / Beige for the warmth of the wood. At the time of writing, Tivoli’s own page lists it as out of stock, with White / Silver and Black Ash in stock, so check availability before you commit to a colour.
Bluetooth or not? The Model One described here has no Bluetooth; Tivoli sells a separate Model One BT for wireless streaming. If you play music from a phone, we would take the BT. If you mostly listen to the radio, the plain Model One is the more honest choice, and a cable is all you need for the occasional playlist. Note that it is mono, so it belongs in a room rather than at the centre of a stereo pair.
