Toy State made its Skyfall Aston Martin DB5 in 2012 to mark the film and the franchise’s fiftieth anniversary, and it is a proper toy: a motorised car about 23cm long that plays film sounds and lights up. The Toy State 007 Aston Martin DB5 (Skyfall) is a child’s gift, and a modest collector’s item, rather than a scale model for a cabinet.
Using it now
Daniel Craig’s Bond drives the Aston Martin DB5 in Skyfall; this is the toy of that car. It came in more than one form. The Q-Branch edition has lights and sounds but no remote control; a British Secret Service edition added a remote, and a remote-controlled version used a two-channel 27MHz handset that took four AA batteries, which were not included. See our Skyfall page for the car in the film, and the toys and collectibles category for similar pieces.
Toy State no longer makes it. It is out of production and found second-hand. Boxed examples are the ones to look for, and a seller who can show the tyres and the electronics working. This toy is for playing with.
In the same spirit
These are alternatives, not the Skyfall toy. If you want the DB5 as a collector’s piece or a table-top game:
- Scalextric Aston Martin DB5 Limited Edition C3162A (Casino Royale): a 1:32 slot car of the DB5 from the Casino Royale era.
- Micro Scalextric James Bond 007 Skyfall Set G1083 (Skyfall): a 1:64 set with the silver DB5 from the film and about 370cm of track.
