The best prop in Q’s workshop is not a gadget. It is a mug. In Skyfall, Ben Whishaw’s Q drinks from a ceramic mug printed with the Scrabble letter Q and the number 10, the points the tile scores in the game. It is the Wild & Wolf Scrabble Q mug, and anyone looking for the Q mug from Skyfall should know that two versions exist.
Owning it now
The mug is made by Wild & Wolf of Bath, England, as part of a range of Scrabble alphabet mugs the company has sold since 2010. The version in the film is the UK one. The US version uses a different typeface for the letter, so check the product photographs and description before you buy. Some retailers have shown pictures of one version and shipped the other. We could not confirm a current retailer shipping the UK version, so the button below runs an eBay search, where both versions turn up. Check the photographs for the lettering before you buy.
It stands 9cm tall and 8.5cm across, which is a sensible size for a desk, and it is made of ceramic and can be washed in a dishwasher and heated in a microwave. We would keep it at a work desk rather than in a cupboard of good china. More for the home is in Home and Interiors, and the rest of the film is on the Skyfall page.
