Not every object in a Bond film is there to be noticed. In No Time To Die, the MI6 team toast Daniel Craig’s Bond with tumblers in hand, and M sets one down on a coaster in his honour. They are the Royal Doulton Highclere tumblers from the R&D Collection: plain and unshowy, and the kind of glass we would happily keep on a bar tray.
Using the Royal Doulton Highclere tumblers now
At 290ml this is a generous tumbler, comfortable with whisky over ice or a long soft drink. The diamond and wedge cut gives the glass some life in lamplight without turning it into a piece of display crystal. That restraint is the appeal.
We would buy the set of four. Two glasses make a toast; four make an evening, and they sit well on a tray in a study or a drawing room alongside a decanter. Check the retailer’s care notes before they go near a dishwasher.
Availability varies. Royal Doulton’s own US glassware collection page did not list the Highclere at the time of writing, so it is worth checking stock with a reputable retailer. More like this sits in Home & Interiors and across the films. For the maker, see Royal Doulton’s glassware collection.
