The Anglepoise Original 1227 desk lamp does its work quietly. In No Time To Die, a pale example stands on the boat where Daniel Craig’s Bond meets Felix Leiter and Logan Ash, and it is visible during the fight scene inside the boat. The colour reads as white or grey on screen. In Spectre, a black one sits beside the leather chair in Bond’s apartment.
Owning the Anglepoise Original 1227 desk lamp
George Carwardine, an automotive engineer, built it around a constant-tension spring, which is why the arms stay wherever you leave them. It launched in 1935 and Anglepoise still makes it. The shade and arms are aluminium, the base is cast iron, and a bulb comes in the box.
If you want the lamp from the boat, we would choose one of the pale finishes, Linen White or Dove Grey. We cannot say which colour was used, so treat either as in the spirit of it. Jet Black is the quieter choice for a study. It suits a desk, a reading corner or a hall table, and sits well alongside the rest of our home and interiors pieces. Anglepoise guarantees it for life if you register it within 90 days of purchase.
