The world of James Bond, considered for a life well lived

Sézane Will Jacket Khaki (No Time To Die)

Madeleine Swann wears the khaki Will jacket over her brown shirt as she leaves her house in Norway in No Time To Die. An oversized, organic cotton layer with a classic collar and large pockets, it is the easiest piece of the film’s wardrobe to wear without comment.

Not every piece in a Bond film’s wardrobe is meant to be noticed. Madeleine Swann’s jacket in Norway is worn as she leaves in a hurry, and nothing about it draws the eye, which is all to its credit. It is the Sézane Will jacket in khaki: oversized, collared, cut from organic cotton, and about as plain as a coat can be while still looking considered. In our view it is the most useful piece of the No Time To Die wardrobe for ordinary life.

In the film

Léa Seydoux’s Madeleine Swann wears the jacket in No Time To Die when she and Daniel Craig’s Bond leave her house in Norway to escape the approaching Logan Ash, Safin and his henchman. She has it over a brown N.Peal cashmere shirt, with white Agolde ’90s High Rise jeans. The jacket in the scene is the Will in khaki. See the wider wardrobe on our No Time To Die page.

The details of the Sézane Will jacket

Organic cotton. The khaki Will is made from organic cotton, a natural fibre that suits a layer you will wear often and wash.

An oversized cut. Sézane designs the Will to sit loose, so it goes over a shirt or a fine knit without pulling across the shoulders. The shape gives the jacket its relaxed look.

A classic collar. The collar is plain and shirt-like. It keeps the jacket closer to an overshirt than to a technical coat.

Large pockets. The pockets are generous, which is what turns a loose cotton layer into something you can travel in.

A button closure. It fastens with buttons rather than a zip, which keeps the front clean and the whole piece quiet.

Wearing it now

Khaki is the most forgiving of the country colours, and this is a jacket for the days between seasons: spring mornings, autumn afternoons, a cool evening in a city that has not yet decided about winter. Do as the film does and wear it over a brown knit or shirt with white or pale denim. We would add plain leather boots or clean trainers, and keep everything else muted so the cut does the work.

Who it is for. In the film the jacket is Madeleine’s, and we would treat it first as a gift for her. Check Sézane’s size guide before ordering; because the cut is deliberately oversized, your usual size is the place to start.

How to style it. We would button it up for travel, where the pockets matter, and leave it open over a shirt when the weather is kinder. It works best worn lightly, a little creased, with nothing too polished beside it.

Other colours. Sézane makes the Will in several other colours and fabrics, but khaki is the one from the film and, we think, the easiest to wear with everything else you own.
