Not every Bond-world wardrobe needs a tailor. For his meeting with Daniel Craig’s Bond in Jamaica, Felix Leiter wears nothing more elaborate than a pale green shirt with a camp collar, and it looks entirely right in the heat. The Beams Plus vacation shirt, sold as the Colour Slub Yarn Vacation Shirt, is a short-sleeve piece in a textured rayon and flax cloth, made in Japan. In our view it is the most useful shirt in the film’s wardrobe, because you could wear it on a Tuesday.
In the film
CIA agent Felix Leiter, played by Jeffrey Wright, wears the mint green shirt in No Time To Die when he meets Bond in Jamaica, including the bar scene. Wright was first photographed in it on location in April 2019, and it appears in the promotional material for the film. It is a Leiter piece, not a Bond one, which suits it.
The details of the Beams Plus vacation shirt
Slub cloth. The fabric is 91% rayon and 9% flax. Slub yarn is spun with deliberate irregularities, so the surface carries a faint, uneven texture rather than a flat, shiny finish. The result has a vintage-inspired look and feel.
The camp collar. A camp collar has no stand and lies open and flat against the chest, which is why the shirt reads as casual even when it is pressed. It cannot take a tie, and it was never meant to.
Two chest pockets. Practical, symmetrical and quiet. They give the front some structure without adding any decoration.
Mint green. It is a pale, cool colour, light enough for midday heat and muted enough to stay understated. Beams Plus also made the shirt in blue, though neither colour is now available.
Made in Japan. Beams began as a small shop in Tokyo’s Harajuku district in 1976. Beams Plus, its heritage- and workwear-inspired men’s line, followed in 1999.
Wearing it now
Wear it the way Leiter does: over white cotton, with white linen trousers and Clarks suede shoes. We would keep to that palette. Pale green and white sit within the same narrow range of tones, and nothing in the look competes with anything else.
Where it works. Evenings on a terrace, a long lunch, a flight somewhere warm, a Sunday in summer. It is not an office shirt, and we would not try to make it one.
The honest caveat. This shirt is out of production. It was once sold at END Clothing and is no longer made, so the exact one is found second-hand. Our button runs a search on eBay. Check the fabric content (91% rayon, 9% flax), the size and the condition before you buy. If you want the look rather than the label, a short-sleeve camp-collar shirt in a pale, slubbed rayon or linen blend gets you most of the way.

In the same spirit
If the Beams Plus shirt does not turn up, the nearest current idea in our catalogue is the Connolly x Finamore Oatmeal Linen Shirt. It is a different shirt, in oatmeal cotton-linen with a cutaway collar, and not the one Leiter wears, but it has the same easy, warm-weather ease.
