On the screen she is the Chimera, the yacht on which Daniel Craig’s Bond sails with Séverine. In life she is the Pruva Regina, a 56m steel schooner built in Bodrum, Turkey, and launched in 2011. She is one of the few vehicles from the Bond films that a private buyer or a charter guest can actually step aboard, and the Pruva Regina schooner yacht is a good deal more graceful than the usual idea of a superyacht.

In the film

In Skyfall (2012), Bond and Séverine sail and talk on the front deck of the yacht. The scenes were filmed near Turkey, and the boat is called Chimera in the film. The yacht is the Regina, built by Pruva Yachting.

The details of the Pruva Regina

A schooner rig on a steel hull. Pruva Yachting, a Bodrum builder of traditional wooden gulets, built twenty boats before the Regina and set out with her to make a serious sailing yacht. She is 183ft (55.8m) overall, with a steel hull and a schooner rig, and the designer aimed for the performance of a sailing yacht with the comfort of a gulet.

Gulet comforts. Under way she feels like a performance yacht; at anchor she behaves like a gulet. There is protected dining and a large sun pad aft, a seating area with a cocktail table forward, and an interior in mahogany and light fabrics.

Room for guests. She sleeps up to twelve in six staterooms: two master suites, three doubles and one twin.

Her later name. A charter listing now gives her as Aria I, formerly Regina, which is worth knowing when you search.

Owning it now

This is not a purchase for most readers, and we would say so plainly. If a yacht is on your list, the practical way to meet the Regina is to charter her, which lets you judge the layout and the deck space that appear on screen before any larger decision. Turkish waters between Bodrum and Gocek are where she has traditionally sailed, from May to October. A yacht of this size is bought through a broker with a survey, not through a shop.

If you want to buy, check the current name, ownership and availability with a broker, as any listing can be out of date. The button on this page runs an eBay search for the Pruva Regina, which is the quickest way to find models, books and memorabilia of her.
