The Brunello Cucinelli Spectre chinos are the quietest piece of the Moroccan wardrobe Daniel Craig’s Bond wears in Spectre. There is no tailoring to speak of and nothing to announce them. They are simply well-made cotton trousers, washed until they look as though they have already been lived in, in a dark khaki with a taupe cast. In our view they are also the most useful thing Bond wears in the film.
In the film
Bond wears the Aged Gabardine Chinos (M067DF1050, colour C1581) during his time in Morocco in Spectre, including the desert scene as he waits for the Rolls-Royce. They are worn first with a Matchless blouson and a Tom Ford polo, and later with a Cucinelli blazer, Tom Ford shirt and tie and suede boots. The model and colour were confirmed with the maker by a Bond enthusiast, which is how the reference is known.
The details of the Brunello Cucinelli Spectre chinos
Aged gabardine. The cotton is washed after it is made, so the fabric arrives with a softened, slightly worn surface and a faded crease. The point is that they never look new, and so never look as if they are trying.
The colour. The shade is a dark khaki called sahara, not the pale stone of most chinos. It works as a neutral with navy, olive, cream and brown, and it is dark enough to carry a jacket in a similar tone without disappearing into it.
A slim cut. The trousers are cut slim, with belt loops and a button tab at the waist, on-seam front pockets and welted rear pockets that close with a button. These are the details that separate a considered chino from a high-street one.
Wearing it now
Chinos like these are for the days when a suit is too much and jeans too little. Wear them with a navy knit and suede boots for lunch, or with an unstructured linen or cotton jacket for an evening that needs a little more care. We would keep the jacket close in tone but not identical, so that the outfit reads as a considered pairing and not a mismatched suit.
Boots and belt. Brown suede boots and a plain leather belt in a matching tone are all they need. Keep the shirt simple: a white or pale blue oxford, or a fine polo for warm weather.
Finding a pair. This exact model is out of production and sold out some time ago; it is found second-hand, and the button on this page searches eBay for it. Look for the model code M067DF1050 and colour C1581 on the label, and ask for measurements. If you cannot find a pair, look for a washed cotton gabardine chino in a similar dark khaki with the same slim cut and button-through rear pockets. We would call that a less costly route to the same look, but it will not be the same trouser.
In the same spirit
Alternatives, not the Spectre chinos: the Massimo Alba Winch corduroy trousers are slim, flat-front and quietly coloured, in grey baby corduroy rather than khaki gabardine, and make the same kind of easy, off-duty trouser.

Questions
Are these the trousers Bond wears in Spectre?
Yes. Bond wears the Brunello Cucinelli Aged Gabardine Chinos, model M067DF1050 in colour C1581, in the Morocco sequences of Spectre. The model and colour were confirmed with the company by a Bond enthusiast.
What colour are the Spectre chinos?
They are a dark khaki called sahara, with a taupe cast rather than the pale stone of most chinos. The washing gives them a softly faded look.
Can you still buy them?
Not new. This model is out of production and found second-hand; the button on this page searches eBay for it. A similar washed cotton chino in a dark khaki is the practical alternative.
What do they go with?
Navy and olive knitwear, a linen or cotton jacket and brown suede boots. Keep the jacket close to the chinos in tone but not identical.
