The Casino Royale Bentley Special Edition is the most elaborate book on our shelves. Vintage Classics and Bentley Motors made it in 2013 to mark sixty years of Bond, in an edition of 500.
In the books
The text is Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale, in which Bond owns a supercharged Bentley, and the edition leans into that link. It carries an introduction by Sir Stirling Moss.
Owning it now
The book and its clamshell case are bound in beluga-coloured leather from the Italian tannery that supplies Bentley’s interiors, with double stitching and a hand-stitched winged logo. The spine is knurled, the page edges are silver foil, and a set of playing cards sits in a hidden compartment. Each copy carries a limitation mark with Fleming’s signature. It launched at £750; Coles Books listed it at a special price of £300 at the time of writing. We would buy it sealed, with the cards intact.
