Breakfast in Fleming is a ritual, and the marmalade is part of it. Frank Cooper’s Vintage Oxford Marmalade is one of three glass jars on Bond’s breakfast tray in From Russia, With Love, beside jam and honey. It is also the easiest of the three to buy.
In the books
In From Russia, With Love the tray arrives with a squat glass jar of Frank Cooper’s marmalade, Tiptree strawberry jam and Norwegian heather honey, after the Chemex coffee. The marmalade is coarse cut, and the tray belongs to Bond’s morning at home in London. See the films for the film version of that story.
Owning it now
The Oxford marmalade is inspired by the 1874 recipe of Sarah Jane Cooper: dark, intense and coarse cut, made from Seville oranges. Amazon’s US listing gives 45% fruit. Production moved from Oxford in 1967, but the name stayed, and the brand holds a Royal Warrant. Myers of Keswick lists it at about US$12.50 in October 2026. We would eat it on plain buttered toast and nothing else, and keep it out of the fridge door.
