The world of James Bond, considered for a life well lived

Mclaggan Smith Educational Periodic Mug (No Time To Die)

A bone china mug printed with the periodic table, seen on Q’s desk in his apartment in No Time To Die. Screen-printed, hand-decorated and kiln-fired in the UK by Mclaggan, it is the least showy Bond object you can own, and one of the most usable.

On the desk in Q’s apartment in No Time To Die (2021) sits a white mug printed with the periodic table. It is a small thing, and exactly what a man like Q would own: practical, a little academic, entirely without display. The No Time To Die periodic table mug is made by Mclaggan, which puts it among the easier objects from the film to own.

Owning the periodic table mug now

This is a desk mug, and we would keep it on one. The maker describes the print as crisp and the bone china as light and comfortable to hold, and says it keeps drinks warmer for longer.

Which size? Mclaggan makes it in 300ml, 350ml and 400ml. We would take the 350ml or 400ml for coffee at a desk, and the 300ml for tea. Which size appears on screen is not confirmed, though the 400ml is thought the likeliest.

Care. It is dishwasher and microwave safe, though the maker recommends washing by hand, since frequent dishwashing gradually softens the colours. Mclaggan also lets you personalise the handle and the inside of the base, if you would like it to be yours rather than Q’s. For more pieces for the desk and table, see our home and interiors pieces.
