The world of James Bond, considered for a life well lived

Silver Vodka Glasses and Caviar Set (Tomorrow Never Dies)

In Hamburg, Pierce Brosnan’s Bond drinks vodka from a long shot glass that belongs to a silver caviar set in Tomorrow Never Dies. The exact set cannot be bought, but Markys sells a silver-plated server with six glasses that comes close.

The best props in Tomorrow Never Dies are the ones that tell you how a man lives. In Hamburg, Pierce Brosnan’s Bond drinks vodka from a tall, heavy-based shot glass that belongs to a silver caviar set, which is a formal way to serve a simple pleasure. The set is no longer made, and our catalogue says the exact one is currently impossible to find, but similar sets are easy to buy.

In the film

Christie’s has catalogued an electroplated vodka and caviar set from the film, with a circular base and an ice container with a detachable cover. Another Bond site records the vodka as Smirnoff, drunk from long glasses with a heavy base.

Owning it now

The nearest current piece we have found is the Silver Plated Caviar and Vodka Server from Markys, at US$275 at the time of writing. It has six vodka glasses and a caviar lifter, and a glass bowl sits over crushed ice. It is an equivalent, not the set from the film.

Use it with vodka from the freezer and good caviar, and nothing else. Cold glass, cold vodka and a small spoon of caviar need no help.

For something nearer the original, search eBay for silver-plated sets, where similar pieces appear, and check the plating for wear.
