The Stelton Cylinda jug sits in Moneypenny’s office in No Time To Die, in plain view as Nomi (Lashana Lynch) takes a seat to wait for Daniel Craig’s Bond to come out of M’s office. It is background rather than plot, and exactly the kind of object a well-run room is full of: made once, made properly, and left alone. It is a film detail worth noticing, and a piece of Danish design worth owning.
Using the Stelton Cylinda jug now
Arne Jacobsen designed the Cylinda-line for Stelton in 1967, and this two-litre jug is a plain steel cylinder with a Bakelite handle. The ice lip is the one clever detail: it holds the cubes back in the jug while the water pours. We would keep it filled on a sideboard or a desk rather than save it for dinner parties, since it looks right in both places.
Wash it by hand and dry it with a soft cloth, as Stelton advises; it is not dishwasher safe. If you are building a table around it, Stelton also makes ice tongs and coasters in the same steel. More ideas are in our home and interiors selection.
