Of the three jars on Bond’s breakfast tray, Tiptree Little Scarlet strawberry jam is the one with the story. Wilkin & Sons grow a small wild strawberry, and in Fleming’s From Russia, With Love it appears by name. It is still made in Essex, and the jar is as easy to buy as it is to eat.
In the books
In Chapter 11 of From Russia, With Love, the Tiptree “Little Scarlet” strawberry jam is one of three glass jars on Bond’s breakfast tray, with marmalade and honey. Tiptree notes the mention itself. See the films for the screen version.
Owning it now
Tiptree sells it as Little Scarlet Strawberry Conserve, and the berries are tiny, usually no larger than a 1p coin. Wilkin & Sons are believed to be the only commercial growers of the fruit anywhere in the world today. The 340g jar costs £5.79 on Tiptree’s site in October 2026, and is made with 60g of fruit per 100g. We would have it with scones, as Tiptree suggests, or on toast beside the marmalade.
