The whisky Bond pours at the bar in Skyfall is not the grandest bottle in the film, and he does not treat it as one. The Macallan Fine Oak 10 Year Old goes into a plain Duralex tumbler, drunk quickly and without ceremony. That, more than the label, is the reason to own it: it is a bottle for pouring, not for keeping behind glass.
Drinking it now
Fine Oak was The Macallan’s lighter line. The 10 year old is a single malt from American oak, European oak and ex-bourbon casks, and retailers describe a nose of heather honey and flowers with a soft, malty finish. The Macallan lists it among its past releases, so it is no longer made, and what is on sale is remaining stock. Do not expect a sherry-heavy dram. Pour it neat or with a little water, and keep it for evenings when a quieter whisky is the right one.
At the time of writing, October 2026, Cost Plus Liquors lists a 750ml bottle at US$299.99, reduced from US$389.99. Prices on the secondary market vary widely, so compare before you buy. For more of the film, see food and drink, or Daniel Craig’s Bond.
