Not every object in the Jamaican house of Daniel Craig’s Bond is made to impress. In No Time To Die (2021), among the traditional furnishings, sits a Murano mushroom lamp: a domed glass shade above a stem, with a swirl running through the glass. It is the kind of piece you notice only after a while, which is the best argument for it.
We cannot say which maker or year the production used, so we describe the type rather than a single model. More on the film is on our No Time To Die page.
Owning a Murano mushroom lamp now
Look for mouth-blown glass. Genuine vintage examples show small variations in colour and shape, so no two are quite alike. Dealer listings mostly date from the 1960s and 1970s, and prices vary widely with size, maker and condition, so compare several before you buy.
We would put it on a low surface, a bedside table or a console, with a warm bulb, where the glass can glow rather than glare. Have any old wiring checked by an electrician before you switch it on. It sits easily beside the other pieces in our home and interiors selection.
Finding one
Because the film lamp is an unidentified vintage piece, there is no single model to order. Our button runs an eBay search for vintage Murano swirl mushroom lamps, which is where most of the second-hand stock is listed. Expect to sort through several before the colour and proportion are right.
In the same spirit
If glass is not the point and you want a lamp with the same quiet glow, two current pieces we have on the site are the Louis Poulsen PH 4/3 Table Lamp and the Artemide Tizio 50 Table Lamp. Both are alternatives to the Murano type, not the lamp in the film.
