The world of James Bond, considered for a life well lived

Barton Perreira Joe Sunglasses 007 Edition (No Time To Die)

Square, polished-black zyl sunglasses, handmade in Japan by Barton Perreira, with 007 inscribed on the temple. Daniel Craig’s Bond wears the Joe in London in No Time To Die; the 007 Edition is the same style of frame with the number added, and we think it is the right pair to wear with a suit.

Daniel Craig’s Bond wears more than one pair of sunglasses in No Time To Die, and the Barton Perreira Joe sunglasses are the pair for the city. A square, polished-black frame with a pronounced edge, it is cut to be worn with a suit and taken off at the door. Barton Perreira also sells a 007 Edition of the Joe, with the number inscribed on the temple, and in our view it is the most useful pair in the film.

In the film

Bond wears the Joe in the London scenes, with the Tom Ford O’Connor suits, and it is the first pair he takes off as he enters what appears to be an MI6 office building. It also appears in one of the film’s first publicity photographs, beside his Aston Martin V8 Vantage. He wears other pairs elsewhere, among them the Barton Perreira Norton in Italy. The film pair was probably the regular Joe rather than the 007 Edition, so we treat the 007 Edition as the same style of frame with the number added, not as a replica.

The details of the Barton Perreira Joe sunglasses

An angular frame. Thick zyl, a zylonite acetate, gives the Joe its pronounced silhouette, and the square lenses sharpen it further. It is a frame with edges, which is why it reads as dressed rather than casual.

Handmade in Japan. Barton Perreira makes the Joe by hand in Japan. The measurements are 52mm eye size, 20mm bridge and 148mm temple length, worth checking against a pair you already wear before you buy.

Mineral glass lenses. The 007 Joe is fitted with mineral glass lenses and an anti-reflective coating, so the lens is glass rather than plastic.

A quiet 007. The number is inscribed on the temple, where only someone beside you will see it. That seems to us the right place for it. The Black / Vintage Grey version, the one closest to the polished black of the film, comes in a limited edition 007 presentation box with an authenticity card, as well as a case and cleaning cloth.

Five colourways. Besides Black / Vintage Grey, the 007 Joe comes as Hakadal / Noir, El Nido / Old English Polarized, Port Antonio / Safari Polarized and Matera / Green Smoke. Two of the five have polarised lenses.

Wearing it now

This is a city frame, and it works hardest with tailoring. Worn with a navy or grey flannel suit, the black acetate and the grey lens echo the cloth rather than compete with it. Off duty it holds its own with dark knitwear, a trench or a plain white shirt, where the angularity does the work a logo would otherwise do.

Which version? We would choose Black / Vintage Grey. It is the closest to the polished black frame in the film, it is the version that comes with the limited edition presentation box, and a black frame with a neutral lens goes with nearly everything. If you drive a lot or spend time on water, one of the polarised colourways is the practical choice.

Fit. A square frame tends to flatter a rounder face and can feel severe on a narrow one. Compare the 52mm eye size, 20mm bridge and 148mm temple length with a pair you already own, and try the Joe on if you can.

Everyday care. Keep them in the case and wipe the lenses with the cloth supplied. Acetate is happiest kept off a hot car dashboard.

Questions

Are these the exact sunglasses Bond wears in No Time To Die?

Probably not the 007 Edition itself. The Joe is the model Bond wears, in polished black, but the film pair was most likely the regular model, and the 007 Edition adds the number on the temple. We would call it the same style of frame, in the spirit of the film pair rather than the pair itself.

How much do the Barton Perreira Joe 007 sunglasses cost?

Barton Perreira lists the 007 Joe at US$580, RRP at the time of writing, October 2026.

What size is the Barton Perreira Joe?

The eye size is 52mm, the bridge 20mm and the temple length 148mm. Compare those figures with the measurements on a pair of sunglasses you already wear comfortably.

Are the lenses polarised?

Only some are. Two of the five colourways, El Nido / Old English Polarized and Port Antonio / Safari Polarized, are listed as polarised. The Black / Vintage Grey version is mineral glass with an anti-reflective coating and is not described as polarised.
