The Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer is the sort of sunglasses that needs no introduction, which is perhaps why it is believed to appear around Felix Leiter in No Time To Die without any fuss. This page is about the Ray-Ban Wayfarer RB2140 in classic polished black: what the frame is, why it works on a face that is not in a film, and what we can and cannot say about its place in the picture.
In the film
We have not been able to confirm these glasses on screen. Jeffrey Wright, who plays Felix Leiter, was photographed in Ray-Ban Wayfarers on set in Jamaica in April 2019 and again in a 2021 promotional still for No Time To Die. Whether they appear in the finished film is unconfirmed, so we treat the RB2140 as the closest match to what Leiter was seen wearing, not as a verified prop. Our No Time To Die collection lists what is confirmed.
The details of the Ray-Ban Wayfarer RB2140
Polished black acetate. The frame is cut from acetate with a high-gloss finish, the shape that has defined the Wayfarer: a squared, slightly raked front with a bold top edge.
G-15 green lenses. The version Ray-Ban shows first pairs the black frame with G-15 green lenses, a neutral dark green that keeps colour reasonably true. A polarised green option is also sold, at a higher price.
Size and fit. The size listed is 50-22, meaning a 50mm lens width and a 22mm bridge, on what Ray-Ban calls a high bridge fit. A low bridge fit is offered on some versions. Because bridge fit decides whether glasses sit well or slide, it is worth checking this before you buy.
Choice of colour. The model comes in 24 colours, and prescription lenses can be added through Ray-Ban. If you need correction, that is the practical route to a pair you can wear all day.
Wearing it now
Classic black is the most adaptable Wayfarer. It sits happily with a navy suit, an open-collar shirt and a linen jacket, and it does not compete with a watch. In a warm climate it reads as a considered everyday pair rather than a statement.
Which version? If you want the nearest match to what the catalogue points to for Leiter, choose the polished black frame with green lenses. We would add polarisation only if you drive or spend time near water; otherwise the cheaper pair is enough.
Fit first. Try the 50-22 size if you can, and ask about the low bridge version if your nose is flat. A pair that sits correctly will look better than any colour choice.
